The chess game played in 1858 at an opera house in Paris between the American chess master Paul Morphy and two strong amateurs, the German noble Karl II, Duke of Brunswick and the French aristocrat Comte Isouard de Vauvenargues, is among the most famous of chess games. Duke Karl and Count Isouard consulted together, playing as partners against Morphy. The game is often used by chess instructors to teach the importance of rapid development of one’s pieces, the value of sacrifices in mating combinations, and other chess concepts. The game is sometimes called “The Opera Game” or “A Night at the Opera”

what is a butcher's move?I didnt get it
I didn't realize you could change your titles after so many years. Show us the game that made you doxx the SLCC.
I believe that the game is called the "Barber of Seville" game, not Norma.
the disrespect
How is this saying featured in the queens gambit even though the series was released in 2020
This game made me love chess
What a work of art
All that activity and Morphy only moved 2 pawns! Beautiful mate!
Every Morphy game can be framed and hung in a gallery. The most beautiful games of chess ever played.
Morphy is the best player ever for his time. Because let's be real his opponent didn't really see that knight sacrifice check?
morphy destroyed the philidor defense in style
I like to think agadmator never edited the title and actually predicted the Queens Gambit years before its release
I just had to ask GM StockFish what he thinks of Morphys play… Paul Morphy (?)

Thanks a lot. Very helpful 👌
I was watching one of agadmator's homage videos to Morphy. And I thought 'it's too bad there was never a movie made about Morphy…' but I thought why would they make a movie who's ultimate end was sad. Nonetheless, I did a search and Wow, someont did! It's called "The Opera Game" made in 2019 and if you add Tubi to your channels on your TV and search you will find it. I don't really recommend the movie because although I think the production quality was quite good and scenes were set well, the acting was choppy, the choice of portions of his life were not so good, the chess was non-existent. But I guess I would have to say a movie could be made, it just wasn't quite this one. Anyway I thought I would bring it to everyone's attention. Also, hopefully this link comes across https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5120646/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
Just realized Levy (Gothamchess) stole/tweeked Agadmators line and said "Morphy wasn't a scientist. He was an artist" 👀
May as well have been “Morphy vs Rufus and Doofus”
Who is here after agad asking to go check how the channel was few years ago ?
Who came here to check out this video after his latest upload on 7 August 2021
Agadmator send me here to enjoy the game again today… C'come
“Hello everyone. A lot of you have seen this game already.”
He predicted we’d come here from his second video covering this game. My how times have changed.
Here from the new video of the Opera House Game!
From 2021
I came here from the 2021 version.. the channel has developed so much in 4 years..
I'm from 4 years in the future
An underrated fact is that starting with Nxb5, every single white piece (apart from the pawns) participates in the combination that follows. The tactics themselve are not that impressive (Nxb5 is quite frankly the most obvious move, and the "queen sacrifice" is an easy mate in two), but that he had all his pieces in the right place for it to work, is.
Amazing man!
hey sweet video! I just made a video about The Opera Game also it would be cool if you checked it out! 😈
He is far ahead of his time.He is playing like modern chess players. Real goat of chess
Queen's Gambit came out in 2020
this video was uploaded in 2017
that's how far agadmator thinks ahead 😉
I'd never heard of this game before agad, but this video seemed too good not to turn it into a rap battle: https://youtu.be/Q8bWzjIDFHQ
Antonio, thank you for showing the timeless beauty of these games.
Strange to see only two pawns move.
How to get that clicking sound when making a move? Its so satisfying
Ft critical thinking too …. great chess movie 2020!!!!!!
Remake!!
agad's comfort level with English has grown greatly since this video.. he speaks well here but the confidence in a current video is night and day!
This game was beautiful
Rosen should rewatch this game too
My favorite
2:35 thats all you need to know
tal would be proud
getting that open d file for the rook to get checkmate with a queen sacrifice forcing the knight to capture is just beautiful art by morphy
only morphy forces a queen sacrifice like that lol. maybe tal too.
funny how the knight goes back to its original position to make it look like it was undeveloped haha
sacrifices a bishop to sacrifice a queen to get checkmate damn. tal must be loving this.
that g8 knight had a beautiful story going from his position to the other knight's position while also capturing a bishop and a queen, to allow his king to get checkmated haha
to lose a game like this is beatiful, that poor knight got manipulated so bad even though it captured a bishop and a queen so something to be proud about. and returned to his other partner knight's position
grewt
Fantastic
I enjoy this game over and over about once a year or so, and Agad stayed on the game
in this review: rare achievement for him. IF he avoided Never Never Land like this in all of his videos I might watch him. As it is the Chess Dawg does way better reviews.
