  5. Wow! This guy is better at being Ben Finegold than Ben Finegold himself!

  6. Near the end of the second game a question is asked of the audience and is shot down with “how could you? Terrible move” not exactly encouraging student participation with that sort of retort from the lecturer. Probably made the poor person cry to sleep that night.

  7. I detect some aggression being dissipated on the 'suspect' openings by Jon. Could it be he came out swinging 'cause there's an audience of 1?

  8. People of youtube: i wonder what opening it is?

  20. Woah, the meta used to be not castling? I’m shocked how much this has changed over the rise of chess in popularity the last couple years

  21. Reminds me of Finegold in his terminology and body language.

  22. I thought this video was good.

I bought a course on an opening from chess base. Of course, that course had the various lines, and you can click through them while watching the board – wondering what you would do and then evaluating what was actually done. However, the accompanying video – some good chess player just reading off the various lines in a mumbled monotone with a heavy Russian accent was basically useless. So annoying. Why not make the video more of an explanation? I found it so obnoxious, I gave up on the video and just go through the moves myself.

  23. Great lecture! Btw…is that a little fart I hear at 12:39? Sneeky one.

  24. 8:10 what if after Nxe4 white plays Nxf7? And how do you lose a pawn anyways?

  25. Fantastic video. This was the beginning of my journey as a KID player several years ago.

  26. "Random Openings Generator" xDDD hilarious! Took me completely by surprise!!

  27. Why was the rook so important on that square?

  28. Is there a point to the 1st 5 min of this video
