  1. A not very smart discussion at 2:05:00. Alejandro can't actually believe that Carlsen is not just stronger than Gary Kasparov, but that it's not close. Alejandro is actually arguing that ratings inflation is minimal to nonexistent, an absurd proposition and one that has been refuted by all credible statistical studies. In fact, ratings are easily 125 points higher than even just 30 years ago. –Look at it this way. According to Alejandro and those who believe similarly, the top 10 players in the world are all right around Bobby Fischer's strength. At his peak. No, seriously. Alejandro is arguing that a World Champion in the 1970s who crushed world class players 6-0, 6-0, 6–2-1/2, would only be one about 20 comparable players in the top rank today. It's frankly idiotic to make that claim. No, seriously. He's claiming that Carlsen, who barely outlasted Sergey Karjakin, would be a significant match favorite versus Bobby Fischer or Garry Kasparov. That's errant foolishness. It's intellectually offensive.

  2. Practically speaking, I wonder how much new Najdorf theory has been written just in the past two weeks.

  9. I wonder if a computer constantly playing games and recording them 24 hours a day with a premium processor can within our lifetime play every game of chess possible, and thereby know the best response to every move possible.

  10. Seirawan drives one nuts with his persistent mis-pronunciation "Cariuana".

  11. I wish the audio was louder in these live feeds

  12. A smart discussion of candidate moves plus the role of intuition in finding movesstarts around 1:53:30.
